Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, (Shalom, wholeness and well-being) whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Peace is the result of a steadfast mind rooted in trust in God.
The Promise of Peace!
John 14:27
“Peace, (i-ray'-nay, quietness, rest), I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled…”
Philippians 4:7
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Acts 27:34-35
Therefore, I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” 35 And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat.
Psalm 29:11
The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace, (Shalom, wholeness and well-being)
Daniel went home and prayed.
The Condition of Peace
Peace is for the person whose mind is stayed (anchored, fixed, focused) on God.
Romans 8:6
“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Colossians 3:2
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Psalm 1:2–3
“But whose delight is in the law of the Lord… That person is like a tree planted by streams of water…”
The Result of a Mind Stayed On God.
Psalm 112
Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. 2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man deals graciously and lends; he will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely, he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies. 9 He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.
The Foundation of Peace!
Trust Is a Choice of the Heart
Trust is not based on how we feel but on what (or whom) we choose to rely on.
Hezekiah, uses trust the Lord 3 times in 18th chapter of II Kings
Trust Is Rooted in God’s Character
We trust God because He has proven to be:
Faithful –
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
All-knowing –
Psalm 147:4-5
He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.
Unchanging
Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Jeremiah 17:7–8 –
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him… they will have no worries in a year of drought and never fail to bear fruit.”
Trust Produces Stability and Peace
When we truly trust God, we stop striving to control everything. We rest in His care.
Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Isaiah 12:2-3
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. Therefore, with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
